Below are details about our printable materials, laminations and substrates. We endevour to provide different materials for different applications and price points so our customers can choose what best suits their particular use. We encourage you to visit the manufacturers of these materials and learn more than the brief descriptions we give here.
Other materials are available but may require a special order for them.
Calendered vs Cast Materials
So what is the difference? Basically, if you want your material to conform to curves and compound shapes, you want a cast material, if it is a relatively flat mounting area (substrate or a sign on the side of a van) then there is no need for the extra cost of cast material and calendered will be fine.
To laminate or not to laminate…
Unless for a temporary use, we typically recommend a lamination be applied, but the choice is yours. Lamination not only protects the print and material from scratches and dirt, but it protects the ink and material from UV degradation, bleaching in the case of ink, and actual damage for the base material, which can shorten the materials lifespan considerably if say it sits on the south side of a building in full sun all day.
